Pull up a chair in my domestic church and let's chat!

I have worn many labels (Not in any particular order): Catholic, Wife, Mom,Gramma, Doctor, Major, Soccer Mom, Military Wife, Professor, Fellow.

All of these filter my views of the world. I hope that like St. Monica, I can through prayer, words and example, lead my children and others to Faith.

Fledglings have flown!

I guess our adventure with the purple finches has ended. In a mere 10 days the five eggs hatched, the babies grew, and as of this morning, they had all left the nest. I had no idea the birds matured that fast! Yesterday morning I watched two of the young finches practice their flights by flitting from branch to branch. The other three seemed in no hurry to leave the now roomy nest. By yesterday afternoon a third had tried out his wings. Two, however, were stubbornly sticking to the center of the nest. I think the parents offered a little incentive to get going because yesterday I never saw them bring food as they had done every day prior. When we checked the nest this morning it was empty. This was such a fun encounter. God's creation is truly a miracle in its every detail.
